can we marry in uk before moving to the states ?

I am a uk born citizen and engaged to a us born man. He is unable to leave america permantly due to custody issues with his ex wife. We would like to get married some point in the future and i would relocate to the us when i have settled debts in the uk. Can we marry in the uk then get a relevent visa to accept me and my children(aged 5 and 1) into the us as his wife? If so can anyone inform me of the costs of this and any additional info i might need to know. He is able to support me finacially and has proof of this although i would like to work as im training to become a teacher and would like to pursue this career. Also would me and my children lose english citizenship if i become and american citizen and would i be able to maybe return to the uk if necessary? Your help is much appriciated i have been comfused by all the forms and just need it explained alittle better.

yes. Consult an attorney to make sure things go through smoothly. You can not be a citizen for many many years, although you can be a permanent resident. You never need to become a citizen, if you don't wish to. Your children can remain British citizens. I'd suggest getting them green cards and allowing them to decide how they wish to proceed when they grow up.

I have a dear friend who married an American and came here. She did not become a citizen. He died. She maintained her permanent residency status. She remarried and finally decided to become a citizen. She still retains her British citizenship and passport.
