Need a plan of action for moving to the UK!!?

Me and my husband want to move to the UK with our 2 kids within the next 5 or 6 years... what course of action do we need to take to accomplish our goal? We want to become citizens of the UK, do we need to enter the country first on visas? About how many dollars should we have saved up before our move? I am in school to be a naturopathic physician, will my credits transfer? All answers are greatly appreciated!
