| Moving to London: is it feasible?
Hi!
I'm graduating this month in English Studies. I'll be spending the holidays in Peru but I have no real plan for afterwards. My dream is to work in publishing (either in agenting or editing) and the best two places are New York and London. Since I'm French, I figured moving to London would be easier than NY. On the other hand, I have no job offers so I'd be showing up with no assurance of a salary. My parents are willing to help me out at first but they're nowhere near rich and I don't want to be too much trouble.
What I'm asking is, is it a bad idea to just show up in London and hope I get a job early? I doubt anyone'll give me a job without interviewing me in person since I have no work experience. I figured I'd wait tables or something in the mean time but London is expensive. Crazy? Or doable? How much should I make a month minimum to live with some dignity? I don't drive, don't party and don't have special dietary/health needs.
Is it possible to work in the city and
live outside of it without too horribly long a commute?
I've always wanted to go live there but I want to be prepared.
