| How difficult is it to find accommodations in Pattaya for new years?
I am going to Thailand and want to spend New Years on Pattaya beach. I know the place is swamped. How difficult will it be to find accommodations now. I don't need anything fancy because I will be travelling alone. However, I don't fancy the Cockroach Inn.

depends if you want it on the beach or not. There is stuff on the beach that is really nice and some stuff that is a dump. I don't really know why you would want to be on the beach anyway. That is one crappy beach. You could find other hotels off the beach and then get one of the baht busses to take you anywhere you wanted to go in 5-10 minutes! no problem. Even if you wanted to go to the beach. My personal recommendation is the Areca Lodge. I don't know how it is during New Years, but is was relatively empty during the end of High Season while I was there, but was simply an awesome hotel. 2 pools etc. very nice. $36 a night at that time. Off second road. simply great.
