It isnt a bad place to live by any means. I am moving there. There are concerns that the country is facing such as what a previous answer mentioned. However countries all over the world have issues so while it should be put into consideration it should not be weighed heavily. You need to have a reason, first off, and a means of doing so. But I would recommend the country.

My running joke is if I couldn't be American, I would be Dutch. I spent 7 months there and loved it. As to your question NO!!! The Netherlands had an open door to the world for many years, allowing most anyone to live there. They are now paying the price for it. Unlike the U.S. they simply don't have the space. Much of the friction in the country is from the population problem. As a rule the Dutch have prided themselves, on their live and let live. However some of the newer populations are trying to force their lifestyle on the Dutch. Since they went to the Euro, the cost of living has risen. When you add this to the about of people trying to find a good paying job, and find good cost housing there is going to be friction. If there was ever a country that needed to pull up its Welcome Mat, this is it. Go visit the Netherlands, enjoy, maybe even work a short term project, but don't forget to leave! |
