| I live in Japan and will move to the USA. Will my TV work when I ship it to the...
...USA-can I connect it to cable? The television, a Sony Trinitron Wega KV-21DA55, is a Japanese model. It's only 3 years old and I would like to keep it (costs no more to send) if possible and if it's going to function. I know that both countries use NTSC, but they use a different range of the frequency spectrum (the upper FM dial in the USA is the lower TV-end of the spectrum in Japan).
Someone told me that this didn't matter though if I plugged it into cable TV and didn't use the free-to-air.
Some clarification would be great!
I'm more concerned with the frequency (megahertz) of the transmission, not plugs or electricity as this is easily solved.
Both countries use NTSC, but on a slightly different part of the spectrum.
Will it work simply by plugging it in to cable television?
Has anyone brought a TV set from Japan to the USA before when they've moved from Japan?
As for DVDs, we have a multiregion (0-6), multisystem (NTSC, PAL) DVD player -- that's not problem.
