I'm no expert, but I study German as a hobby and I have never heard any such word spelled as "aldeee." I think what you mean is Aldi and that's a popular German supermarket chain.

As for "Was geht heute," that's a phrase that in English means "What's going on today?" But you should be aware that it's very informal, and as a general rule if you are speaking to strangers you probably should not use that phrase.
