| Dominican Republic in March...Puerto Plata or Punta Cana??
I am heading to the DR in March for a week...which is a better place to go...Puerto Plata or Punta Cana? I am planning on relaxing mostly, but since I have studied DR history, I would love to do some sight seeing too. Any suggestions?? Also any suggestions for hotels, preferably all inclusive??? I am going by myself so any suggestions would be great. |

Punta Cana all the way! Puerto Plata is nice but in the recent past has been eclipsed by Punta Cana and La Romana as the most popular resort locations in the country. There are direct flights to the U.S., Europe and South America from Punta Cana's airport that only show important that part of the nation has become with tourists seeking low-cost, all-inclusive vacation resorts.

I went to Puerto Plata not too long ago, and although I had a GREAT time, I wouldn't go back. The beaches weren't that nice, and that's a deal breaker for me. If you plan on spending a lot of time in the resort and want to party at night, then do Puerto Plata. Otherwise, I'd say Punta Cana.
