| I live in a house with no insolation or central heat in Chile. Winter moving...
...in, any tips to keep it warmer? In my bedroom there are even cracks in the wall where you can see the sun shine through. What can I do! As many ideas as possible please!

-Patch the walls first . Use cement or plaster ( yeso) -Use weather strips for the windows and doors ( buy them at any home improvement store) -Buy an electric heater -Use ceiling fan if you have it - in the lowest set- since heat travels up , to keep the heat circulating through the house -Use those sand filled skinny bags weather strips for doors that let air come in from underneath. |

Lot's of heavy curtains and rugs on the walls and floors will help. If you have electricity, you can get small portable heaters. Lot's of clothes on you, and if you can get a couple of dogs to come and sleep in your room, their body heat really will help it warm up. A heavy comforter to sleep under, and you will be OK. I live in Canada, and sleep without heat in the winter by choice. I have 6 dogs, and 3 of them sleep in my room, and we are toasty! |

This may not be perfect but as room heaters go, I have the rolling radiators and I'll tell ya, nothing maintains a nice heat better. They're consistent, and there's no fans or blowers. They're an excellent investment. I've also found that fleece is warmer than cotton, and good (not cheap) slippers on your feet make a world of difference. Good luck!! |
