Germany-German? I'm moving to Austria--culture tips?
I know that you say a certain phrase when you enter a shop and I know which foods to stay away from (I'm a VERY health conscious person and I always love to go outside and work out and I hope i'll get to go hiking) but anyway--what books or phrases are important to have?

well i am from germany and there are a lot of differences in austria, especially the language!! it is really different.

There are many different dialects of German but most people in Austria will know and understand Standard German. To the extent that I'm aware, some greetings and a few other words are different. Any good German language books should emphasize these differences where they exist.

So you are saying that every Austrian understands a German but not every Germany would understand an Austrian?
