Moving to Perth W.A, where is best suburbs to live ?

Hi all, im Moving to Perth with my partner early new year (from Sydney) - i will prob work close to the city - Ive heard North side of Perth is pretty good. We will be renting to start off - would be great to hear your feed back on some good locations.

As I would not have a clue what would make a suburb good for you, I suggest you find a short term rent and then spend a couple of weekends looking around.

Oh and watch out for the real estate people, they are rogues ;-)

I lived in the inner North, Joondanna. Its nice & within 10km of the city. Good nearby suburbs are Tuart Hill, Mt Hawthorn (my favourite), and North Perth.

Ok. North of the River sounds so good, but I take it you havent heard of South of the River. The Mellville Area(BullCreek, Bateman, Leeming, Etc..) is really good south of the River. It is close to great facilities like Rec centres, Garden City (The BEST shopping ever), and it has the train station which goes straight into the city in Bull Creek, and Murdoch. The Kwinana freeway is also right there so you can easily hop on and off of it to get into the city. I lived there for 12 years, and never had any problems... It's a 10-20 minute drive into the city (obviously depending on the traffic and time) but it is such a good place. I really suggest that you consider this area. I hope you have a smooth over, and you settle in quickly where ever you settle down.

i live in the northern suburbs and its really nice. We are not far from the city (20 mins on freeway) there are great schools and everything you could ever need and cheaper opportunities to buy or build a home. Having said that, if i had my choice again, i would definitely chose south of the river.
There are beautiful suburbs to live in there and it has more of a sense of community because it is older, but by no means does it look old.
