| Moving to Adelaide. Has anybody got any info?
This is for the South Australians out there. I'm currently living in QLD and I'm thinking about moving to Adelaide in the next year or so. I was just wondering if you live or have lived there how the quality of life is ie cost of living, rental properties, traffic, weather, social life, beaches, public transport, jobs etc. thanks a lot |

This is from my 2 years student life experience in adelaide. If you are single- avg cost of living = cheapest (accommodation $110 + food&drink $100 + transport $20) per week rental properties = $200 - $300 p.w. any nearby city suburbs traffic = not much but in city at morning +30min. prediction weather = never extreme weather but very dry climate social life = friendly, little bit conservative than other cities entertainment = less as per QLD beaches = beautiful lagoon, lonely, lots of beaches public transport = cheapest in aus, can travel any place with bus/tram/train with same ticket in valid period jobs = mostly casual/contract part time jobs |

I love SA but it is not for everyone. It is very quiet and the weather can be quite cold or hot. I have always been a SA girl but moved to Brisbane for 4 years in 1997. I loved Brisbane, the weather the social life everything. Adelaide is not very clicky, so it is easy to meet people, renting is probably on the cheaper side of Austalian Rentals, beaches are beautiful and public transport is not too bad, mainly buses. Trains and Trams aswell, Trams are a bit of a joke go from nowhere to the beach and cost tax payers a fortune, but that is another story. Cost of living is cheaper than Brisbane, but not quite sure what part of QLD you are from, it may be more expensive then Northern QLD. It is definately quieter than most cities, I enjoy it but I do like it quiet. The weather is probably the main downside especially from QLD. It is very cold in Winter.... Hope this helps... |
