Should I stay where I am or move interstate?

I have had two job offers for 2008 - one is in the town I'm currently living in, in rural New South Wales - I'm only four hours from my friends and family, and have two capital cities within a five hour drive from my place. I've been living here since April and everyone knows me.

The other job is in central Australia - about 2000km away - and most people seem to think that me moving is there is going to be a bad idea.

I'd like to go to central Australia for the challenge but am struggling to get the money together to get there and everyone else seems to think moving is the wrong thing to do anyways.

Any advice?
