I'm not terribly familiar with Germany, but I have studied it a little. I would think Southern Germany may be a good place to look into. It has a different culture than you'll find in Northern Germany. Northern Germany will have more of an American/industrialized feel to it than in the south. Munich (or München as it is called in German) is a very large and culturally rich city, and has a different atmosphere than Frankfurt or Berlin, which are both more modern. Most major cities are connected by train. Germany has one of the best public transportation systems in the world so I'm sure you'll have no trouble on that end. You'll probably have better luck finding some small towns in this region. Sorry I can't recommend any specifics, but I hope I've helped somewhat. I am looking forward to visiting Germany sometime. I need to put my German language study to use at some point. :)
